Balliu after being shown a red card will serve two games suspension
The Rojiblanco right-back will miss the matches against Girona and Rayo Vallecano
Iván Balliu, sent off in the match against CD Tenerife after being shown a red card, has been suspended for two games by the RFEF competition committee. In this way, the right-back will miss the fixtures on Thursday against Girona, at Montilivi, and the following, on Monday, against Rayo Vallecano at Juegos Mediterraneos.
Initially, Balliu was shown a yellow card for a tackle on opponent Milla, but then the VAR played its part, the referee reviewed the play, made up his mind, cancelled the yellow card and sent off the player from Almería after awarding him a red card. The referee argued that he had expelled Balliu because ‘he caught his rival on the ankle with his studs by using excessive force.’ The foul earned him two matches ban.
According to current regulations, this type of foul can be punished with up to four matches suspension and even a one-month ban.
