
Babić to set off on international duty after Serbia senior team call-up
The UD Almeria central defender is expected to join his national team on Monday, 19 September and his return will be made on Wednesday, 28 September
UD Almeria central defender Srđan Babić has received a call-up to the Serbia senior team to take part in two friendlies ahead of the 2022 Qatar World Cup and he is likely to set off on international duty for the World Championship that kicks off in November.
Babić had been named in the provisional squad and has now been confirmed for the Serbia national team. The Rojiblanco is expected to join his national team on Monday, 19 September, after playing on Saturday, 17 September in Mallorca and the Serbian will be returning on Wednesday, 28 September, just two days before the Athletic Club de Bilbao vs UD Almeria fixture, scheduled for Friday, 30 September.
Serbia will play friendlies against Sweden on 24 September and will be taking on Norway on 27 September. The Serbians are drawn in 'Group G' of the World Cup with Brazil, Switzerland and Cameroon.
Babić, who has been international in the lower ranks of his home country, can debut with the senior squad as a consequence of his brilliant footballing career at UD Almería.
El Bilal Touré has also been called up to the Mali squad, while Ramazani, Samú Costa, Milovanović and Svidersky have received call-ups by the U21s squads of their respective countries.
