Arnau Puigmal: ‘Our only goal is to get promotion to the top flight’

The midfielder promises to give it his all to reach the elite football in Spain wearing the UD Almería shirt

Arnau Puigmal has been introduced as a new UD Almería player and he has not hesitated to share the team’s prime goal for the 2021/22 campaign with the media: ‘Our only goal is to get promotion to the Spanish top flight,’ which is where the team deserves to be.’ These statements were made at the same time that he promised to ‘give it his all’ to be able to reach the elite football in Spain wearing the UD Almeria red and white jersey.

The 20-year-old footballer defined himself as a midfielder who can ‘create big chances and tighten up security when passing.’ In addition, he mentioned that he is feeling ‘very comfortable and eager to start.’

Arnau was keenly aware of the difficulties to face within LaLiga SmartBank. For this reason, he pointed out: ‘I see the team well prepared. There’s excellent quality and the project is great.’

The Catalan midfielder had already seen the Indálicos playing when he was competing in England. What most caught his attention was the factor that this side ‘is keen on keeping possession,’ a fact that made him decide more quickly to sign for UD Almeria as he truly believes that these game characteristics could come in handy due to his player profile.

In the UD Almería dressing room he has met an old friend, Largie Ramazani, with whom he coincided in four seasons in Manchester United U23s and U18s. ‘We’re good friends and the truth is that I asked him questions before coming and he spoke really well about the Club to me,’ he explained.

Pugimal was accompanied at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium press room by UD Almeria CEO Mohamed El Assy, who confessed that the Club had been ‘scouting Arnau for more than a season,’ which has led him to state: ‘We started negotiating with him in January since his contract was ending. It’s a signing that continues our strategy of following young and talented players who can grow in our team.’
