‘Applause to infinity’ tribute to the heroes who are fighting to overcome the pandemic
Pre-recorded applause uploaded in videos by fans will be played in the 20th minute of LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank matches
As part of the efforts made to resume the competition, LaLiga has launched a tribute to all the heroes who are fighting to overcome the coronavirus pandemic. The ‘Applause to infinity ‘initiative seeks to engage fans and supporters of LaLiga clubs around the world.
On their way to the return of football, all LaLiga teams will be forced to play behind closed doors due to the exceptional situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. For this reason, ‘Applause to infinity’ also ensures that fans are present in each and every of the stadiums across Spain. Pre-recorded applause will be played in the 20th minute of LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank matches so that the fans and supporters’ cheers and clapping will be clearly heard at the crowdless stadiums. It is a great opportunity to make a noise for the rest of the 2019/20 campaign.
LaLiga has also created the website aplausoinfinito.es. Fans from around the world can share their applause with all the heroes of Covid-19. Once all the recordings have been collected, a unique piece will be created and therefore, it will be played in the Spanish stadiums in the 20th minute of games. Rapturous cheers and applause will serve as a memorial to the huge efforts made to overcome this global health crisis.
‘We have created this initiative to help fans be a part of La Liga’s return and also as an opportunity for them to show their support for the heroes of the Covid-19 pandemic’, said league president Javier Tebas, who gave his weekly interview on ‘El Partidazo’ to league broadcaster Movistar last Sunday. ‘We really want them to feel close to their team, even if they cannot be in the stadiums cheering them on, and for players to feel the support of their fans and supporters.’
