UD Almería paid a moving tribute to Jesus Verdejo Vivas, a club advisor for almost 20 years with the previous management, who passed away a few days ago. The Rojiblancos wore black armbands as a sign of mourning in Albacete and a minute’s silence was observed in the first match at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium after his death. In addition, a bouquet of flowers was placed on the seat that he used to occupy in the box.

Moreover, a funeral wreath and a red-and-white jersey with his name were placed on the field of play. While the minute’s silence was observed, images of him were projected on the stadium scoreboards.

On the other hand, a moving tribute was paid to Argentinian football legend Diego Armando Maradona, a personal friend of the president and owner of UD Almería, Turki Alalshikh. Maradona died of a heart attack last Wednesday aged 60. Another funeral wreath and a shirt with his name were also placed on the pitch.
