Álvaro García Búrdalo appointed as Almeria Women head coach

Álvaro has wide football coaching experience and worked for LaLiga Academy in China and Jordan

Álvaro García Búrdalo has been appointed as the UD Almería Women head coach. The Almeria-born coach will conduct his first training session this afternoon with the aim of preparing the girls during the campaign competing in group IV within Spanish women’s football league ‘Primera Nacional’.

The head coach has unrivalled football coaching experience. In point of fact, after starting his career at the Swimming Club and going through the Almería Academy youth ranks, he moved to Asia in 2015, where he was part of LaLiga Academy working as a manager, coordinator and training different China and Jordan Under-20s teams. Previously, he was the Almeria Football Federation provincial coach.

In the 2019/20 season, he reached the men's fourth-tier tournament ‘Tercera Division’ as the Poli Almería senior coach. Now, he will be putting the UD Almería Women players through their paces, making his debut in the driving seat against Badajoz on Sunday’s fixture, at 12:00 noon, at the Constantino Cortés ground.

Álvaro García Búrdalo explained to the club's official media that the ‘most immediate objective is to get to know the squad in depth and create work dynamics together with the coaching staff’ to face the next league match in the best possible way. In addition, he added that it is crucial to ‘continue growing as a team’ in order to settle down within this league level.

The coach feels more than ready to take this project off the ground after feeling ‘good vibes’ once UD Almeria Women shared out the points with Real Betis ‘B’. Thus, he concluded: ‘The girls showed themselves as a rock solid team looking actively involved and firmly committed.’
