Almeria's controversial 3-2 defeat by Huesca at El Alcoraz

The referee allows the second goal scored by Huesca to stand despite a clear handball, and does not award Costas a penalty in the 91st minute

Almeria suffered their second defeat as a visiting team in the League, and also the second consecutive loss after the one they had to put up with at home last week. The last defeat against Huesca should be considered as controversial. Almeria’s plan to win the match went pear-shaped. The rojiblancos did not play well in the first half, but in the second half they reacted and Fran Villalba (54 minutes) and Darwin Núñez (85 minutes) managed to find the net twice; the players never gave up and drew strength from weakness. In the 91st minute, with 3-2 on the scoreboard, the referee did not award Costas a penalty, something that had similarly happened with the Indalicos in Soria and meant losing two points. Also, the second goal scored by the Oscenses came after Mikel Rico handled the ball with his arm before finishing. Huesca tied with Almeria in the standings, but our squad beats them on goal average. Never mind.

José María Gutiérrez included six new players in the starting eleven in comparison to the previous matchday. The head coach tried to seek his side’s reaction in a crunch game facing a direct rival ... actually, very direct in the race for promotion. Sivera debuted as a starter in the goal; the left and right flanks were for Romera and Jonathan Silva; Kaptoum and Petrovic in the hole; on the right side was Corpas, fully recovered from his injury, and high up on the pitch next to Darwin Núñez, Juan Muñoz.

In the first half Huesca were on the lead going to half time with a 2-0 advantage, but in the second half Almeria reacted and created scoring chances but some refereeing decisions had a major impact in the game.
