Almeria will host top-tier rivals Deportivo Alavés in the Spanish Cup third-round.
The single-leg tie will be played at Juegos Mediterraneos on 17 January. Sivera, Ximo Navarro, Duarte, Rioja and Edgar return to Almería
Top-flight Deportivo Alavés will be UD Almería’s next rivals in the Spanish Cup third-round. The draw took place at the RFEF (Spanish Football Federation) headquarters and this upcoming tie will be played as a single-leg match at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium on Sunday, 17 January. The kick-off time is still to be confirmed.
After playing the two previous Copa del Rey rounds away in Hospitalet de Llobregat and Soria, Almería’s home debut in the cup tournament is on the horizon. Almeria-born Rubén Duarte, and several former Rojiblancos such as keeper Sivera, right-back Ximo Navarro, and attacking players Luis Rioja and Edgar Méndez are in the opponents team roster.
Deportivo Alavés, who sit fourteenth in the top tier LaLiga Santander, are two points above the relegation zone. The Vitoria-based team beat Deportivo de La Coruña in their previous cup tie, winning 0-1 at the Riazor Stadium. Their head coach is Pablo Machín.
