Almería urge for an immediate solution to start the play-offs

U.D. Almería SAD, through its board of directors, expresses its deep concern and general dissatisfaction with the current situation of LaLiga Smartbank, which is causing us infinite additional problems, not only in managing the current scenario, but also in planning for the near future. In fact, we seriously feel at a disadvantage in relation to the other clubs, immediately jeopardising the suitability of the competition for the 2020/21 season.

Our society has been totally responsible, supportive, understanding and patient in the face of the coronavirus pandemic that is affecting everyone, not just the Spanish LaLiga. We have always done everything possible, in strict collaboration with LaLiga, RFEF (Spanish Football Federation), AFE (Spanish Footballers Association) and CSD (National Sports Council). We fulfil all our obligations, protocols, other duties and even our social role.

However, patience has its limits and we have reached critical point and decisions cannot be postponed. It is urgent that the competent entities present a final solution so that the competition can end. We always stand up for our rights and playing on the pitch as those who also love football should also defend in order to maintain their integrity.

Above all, we must respect the image of the competition, fans, TV stations and all the stakeholders that make LaLiga the best football competition in the world. We have the obligation to defend the industry as a whole.

What is happening at the moment does not, in any way, dignify the image of the Spanish LaLiga before the world and the more time it takes to find a coherent, effective and quick solution, the worse it will be. The losses will be unquestionably incalculable.

We continue to trust LaLiga, RFEF and CSD and their capacity as resolution authorities but we are adamant that the dates of the matches should be fixed once and for all, so that they can alleviate this situation and therefore reduce the losses that are now enormous and we can finally normalise the course of Spanish football.
