Almeria U19 ‘A’ get down to business in ‘Division de Honor’

The homegrown players start a 42-game tournament by visiting Seville on Saturday for a 7pm kick-off

UD Almeria U19 ‘A’ get down to business in Division de Honor for yet another season as the Academy side will compete in the highest category at U19s level, which is especially demanding due to the large number of teams (22) that are part of group IV, so no one can afford any distraction because there will be 8 relegations from 15-22 spots to Liga Nacional.

The Under-19s ‘A’ boys will have a to complete a fixture list throughout the whole year, starting with 3 matches in just 7 days. The opening game for the teenagers takes place at 7pm on Saturday visiting Sevilla FC, one of the candidates to occupy the top place, at the José Ramón Cisneros Sports Complex. Shortly after, the lads from Malaga will be the ones to arrive at the Los Angeles Sports Complex in Almeria, while the following weekend the Rojiblancos will be heading to Cádiz.

Beyond the need to give 110% in each and every league appointment so as not to get into trouble, the 2021/22 campaign has a special appeal in the Division de Honor Juvenil (U19) due to the fact that the Spanish Cup Copa del Rey will be played during the second half of the campaign instead of at the end of the regular season as it had been until now. In this way, those clubs that occupy the first 4 positions of the group at the end of the first half of the season, will qualify for this tournament. In addition, the two best fifths from all of Spain will classify.

The team led by head coach Juan Carlos Cintas has worked at high intensity during the pre-season to be able to go into this demanding campaign in the best form. The side is made up of a group of UD Almeria Academy footballers who have been joined by important signings with experience at this level coming from other important Academies across Spain.

Almeria U19 ‘A’ have been placed in Group IV of Division de Honor and will take on teams such as Málaga, Santa Fe, Seneca, Tiro Pichón, Atlético Sanluqueño, Coria, Castilleja, Calavera, CD El Ejido, Jovenes Promesas, Vázquez Cultural, San Félix, Real Betis, Cádiz, Córdoba, Seville, Recreativo de Huelva, Tomares, Granada, Atlético de Jaén and last but not least, Sporting Atlético.
