Almería looking to finish at the top while keeping an eye on promotion-hunting teams behind

The Rojiblancos have automatic promotion to within three points with Leganés equal on points and Sporting three points behind

Despite two recent consecutive defeats in the league, Almeria still sit third in the table standings looking to finish at the top of the table while keeping an eye on the promotion-hunting teams who are aiming to claw their way into the top flight.

All of the Almeria’s most direct rivals have grabbed victories on Matchday 26 and after the latest results, the distances above have increased slightly, while the promotion-hunting teams are fighting their way up nipping at the Rojiblancos’ heels.

In point of fact, UD Almería are five and three points adrift of the two top-finishing Mallorca and Espanyol, respectively. Leganés are level on points behind with the Almeria squad ahead due to better goal-average, while Sporting de Gijón climbed to fifth three points away.

The uncertainty in the table keeps on growing this season. The downside is that Almería have been affected by the two back-to-back defeats dropping points, yet their promotion aspirations remain intact. Needless to say, when it comes down to obtaining positive results, Jose Gomes’ squad will have to react because nobody gives up at the top of the table.
