Almeria head back out onto the road to catch up on the league by taking on Leganes
The Rojiblancos are to play their postponed match this Wednesday (7p.m. CET) against the team with the best home form
Almería play Leganes this Wednesday at the Butarque Stadium (kick-off 7 p.m. CET). The LaLiga SmartBank Matchday-21 fixture was postponed due to the Storm ‘Filomena’ that hit Madrid last month.
How will the Segunda Division table look after Wednesday’s fixture? A victory would fire the Almeria team top of table one point above Mallorca and three points over Espanyol. In the event of a draw, the Rojiblancos would become runners-up one point ahead of the Catalans and at the same distance away from the Balearic Islands side. With a defeat everything would remain the same or so. In fact, Almería would be third level on points with Espanyol and with current table-toppers Mallorca two points away. However, in this case, Leganés could cut the gap on three points, since they are fourth in the table, six points behind Almeria at the moment.
The team's top scorer Sadiq returns to the squad while Samú Costa will sit out the game as he will be serving a one-game suspension. Jorge Cuenca, was out of action on the last matchday, but is now training, although Jose Gomes will not decide until the last minute whether or not he will have him on board. The head coach reported on the eve of the previous match against UD Las Palmas that he does not want take the risk as the centre-back has been feeling some muscular discomfort.
Almería visit the team with the best home form for the time being. CD Leganés have collected 30 points on home turf with ten wins and two losses to Girona and Mallorca. The thing is that since the new head coach arrival, the Madrid-based side have been adding three points at a time. Two victories at home and one win on their travels in Girona.
On the other hand, Almería are the second team with the best away form after Mallorca, and therefore, the Rojiblancos are eager to become the best version of themselves at Butarque to achieve the best possible result. UD Almeria are flying charter to Madrid this Wednesday.
