Almería has already invested around 900,000€ of the 1,200,000€ donated by Turki Al-Sheikh

Medical equipment arrives from Spain, China, Germany and Turkey. UDA Foundation volunteers will provide aid to 500 vulnerable families in Almeria

UD Almería has already invested nearly 900,000 euros of the 1,200,000 euros donated by the club's president and owner, Turki Al-Sheikh, to contribute to the fight against coronavirus pandemic in Almería. That is to say that both UDA Foundation and Almeria City Council developed an emergency action plan that was soon launched. It was not easy at all when it came to acquiring the necessary medical equipment. So much so that these medical supplies are not only brought from Spain but also from other countries such as China, Germany and Turkey.

So far, investment has focused on personal protective material for essential service workers with 900,000 nitrile gloves; 41,000 face masks (30,000 N95 and 11,000 3-layer disposable) and 7,000 waterproof surgical gowns. The hospitals located in Almeria have been provided with a portable X-ray machine; 10 modular multiparameter monitors for ICU with pulse oximetry; as many B650 multiparameter monitors with hemodynamic module, and 40 multiparameter monitors for isolated patients.

Moreover, UD Almería has made a donation of 100,000 euros to Red Cross Almeria and has acquired an advanced emergencies command post vehicle. The fully equipped vehicle is intended for Spain Civil Defense.

UD has also launched a contact centre to offer assistance to all those affected by Covid-19. An email (affected@udalmeriasad.com) has been set up for all those who need to request help these days. After having assessed each case, the UD Almeria Foundation's volunteers have already been distributing essentials to hundreds of families, some of them, season-ticket holders of Almeria.

The club is pretty sure that it is a real bummer to feel like nobody cares enough to wish you a happy birthday in lockdown. Thanks to the UD Almeria’s call-centre, the Rojiblanco club is wishing its season-ticket holders a very happy birthday and also reaching out to those over 60 years to inquire about their health status. It is being a nice gesture much appreciated by everyone.

The rest of the donation made by Turki Al-Sheikh will go to various charitable grants that will depend on the evolution of the coronavirus pandemic should the need arise.
