Almería five and seven points off the first two automatic promotion slots

The Rojiblancos sit third with CD Leganés 3 points behind, Sporting de Gijon, 4 and Rayo Vallecano, 8

UD Almeria head coach José Gomes stressed after the match against Rayo Vallecano that he guarantees that the Rojiblancos first-team will fight until the end to try to achieve one of the top two automatic promotion slots, so it is up to them to bounce back and close the gap at the top. 

With 9 match weeks left, UD Almería remain third on 60 points. Current leaders Espanyol are now 7 points clear at the top as they beat Albacete Balompié, while runners-up Mallorca are not only five points away after a 1-1 draw with Las Palmas, but also have better goal average than the Rojiblancos.

UD Almeria have a 3-point lead over fourth-placed CD Leganés who won over CE Sabadell FC continuing with their pursue of leaders. Sporting de Gijon, who lost to CD Mirandés on home turf, are four points away. Rayo Vallecano complete the play-offs for promtion list 8 points behind the Indalicos but with a postponed game still to be played.

These are the top-6 teams in the table standings. Seventh-placed Girona FC, outside the play-offs zone and eleven points adrift of Almería, are also in the hunt for promotion.
