UD Almería and FC Barcelona veterans face off in tribute to Guillermo Blanes

A Charity match at the Stadium will celebrate Almería's football history and support local causes

This Saturday at 7pm, the UD Almería Stadium will host a special charity match in tribute to Guillermo Blanes, the founder of Almería CF and co-founder of UD Almería. The event marks a celebration of 25 years of UD Almería’s history, with the UD Almería and FC Barcelona veterans taking to the pitch for a memorable clash.

The match, which also serves as a charity event, will raise funds for the Almería Association for Children with Cancer (Argar), the Astea Autism Association, the Centro de acogida Nazaret and the Poco Frecuente Foundation.

On the pitch, fans will witness former stars of Almería football, including players who helped secure CF Almería’s first promotion to professional football, as well as those who achieved LaLiga status with UD Almería. Legends like Jesús Gualda, Callejón, Rubén Gallardo, Raúl Sánchez and Juan Carlos Portillo will join more recent names such as Chuli, Kalu Uche and Pablo Piatti, all donning the red and white stripes once again.

They will face off against FC Barcelona’s veterans, led by club president Asensi and captained by Esteban ‘Boquerón’, a player who not only represented the Blaugrana but also managed both Almería CF and UD Almería during his career.

The match will be attended by local authorities and notable figures from Almería, all coming together to honour the legacy of Guillermo Blanes.
