Almeria buckle down to position specific training drills

The Rojiblancos are gearing up to get the 2019/20 season back up and running

UD Almería have conducted the third training session since the first-team squad returned to action after the championship was suspended as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. This time, apart from generic physical activity, the players practised position specific training drills. This is one of the most beneficial ways to improve the player’s individual ability within a specific position on the pitch.

In this way, the position specific training drills focused on ensuring goalies keep hold of every shot, developing the forwards, midfielders and wingers’ movement and promoting proactive centre-backs and full-backs for optimum effectiveness. Social distancing was maintained at all times according to guidelines laid out by LaLiga in order to minimise the threat of a coronavirus outbreak. It should be noted that the players have continued to work individually with each allocated a time slot both at the Stadium and at the Anexo training ground. Nonetheless, they practised more position specific drills on their third working day.

Petrovic was the only Rojiblanco who was recovering from injury at that point in time when the competition was suspended. The 31-year-old is doing well, although he continues with his recovery process.

Bear in mind that this is a hectic and demanding week for UD Almería, since the workload has increased and there will be no break, at least until Sunday.
