Almería B & Almeria Women won’t walk on the grass this weekend

Both team’s fixtures have been postponed following opponents reporting Covid-19 cases within squads

Almería B and Almeria Women will not have to play any official matches this weekend after the federations announced the postponement of the same as a result of some opponents having tested positive for Covid-19. As a consequence, it will be the second week in a row without action for the homegrown players competing in Tercera Division since they had a break for calendar reasons the previous weekend.

The footballers coached by Fernando Santos, 'Nandinho' had to face Huétor Tájar. However, as the week went by, the Andalusian Football Federation (RFAF) contacted the Academy team to inform them that a new date would be set for the encounter. For this reason, the dressing room will be training on Saturday and free until next Tuesday, when they are meant to kick off preparations for Loja's visit to the Anexo training ground next to the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium.

Meanwhile, UD Almería Women had to make a trip to Badajoz-based side Santa Teresa ‘B’ ground, who have been unable to walk out onto the playing field for two weekends due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Rojiblancas were preparing the game with the firm intention of clinching their first victory so as to somehow prove the team’s good form demonstrated after draws with Real Betis ‘B’ and Badajoz. Nonetheless, the Competition Judge of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has decided to postpone the fixture given that some players from the Badajoz squad tested positive for Covid-19.

Head coach Álvaro García Búrdalo gave the players the weekend off, although the girls are getting back into work next Monday with their mind set on the visit that CD Castuera will make to the city of Almeria.

On the contrary, the Almeria Women ‘B’ team will make their 2020/21 season debut. The Rojiblancas host UD Pavía ‘B’ in a match that is taking place on Sunday, at 4:00 p.m. (Spain Time), at the Rafael Andújar sports complex, located in the Zapillo neighbourhood.
