UD Almería continue to provide the healthcare industry with medical supplies and equipment, in addition to launching other charitable initiatives, thanks to the donation of 1,200,000 euros made by the president and owner of the club, Turki Al-Sheikh, to contribute to the battle against coronavirus in Almeria.
In this sense, the club has acquired a portable X-ray machine that will go to Torrecárdenas Hospital, whose managers deem it essential because it will not be necessary to move patients to the departments where these tests are performed, regardless of whether streamline the processing of these tests.
The UD Almería Foundation and the Almeria City Council have prepared a comprehensive action plan. They have already acquired modular multi-parameter monitors for the ICU, with pulse oximetry, for hospitals in the capital and the province, as well as 900,000 nitrile gloves, 41,000 face masks (30,000 N95 masks and 11,000 3-layer masks) and 7,000 waterproof surgical gowns. All these medical supplies are destined for healthcare professionals and essential service personnel of hospitals and nursing homes, and employees from Almeria City Council and Diputacion de Almeria (Provincial Government).
UD Almeria have also donated 100,000 euros to Red Cross to aid feed hundreds of vulnerable families in Almeria. A contact centre has also been launched to reach out to those affected by coronavirus and contact club season-ticket holders over 60 years old to check on their health status and find out whether they require any assistance.
