Almeria Academy set the ball rolling towards 2020/21 season

The eight Academy teams of all age groups are back in the thick of their activity

The UD Almería Academy training is underway. The eight teams that make up the lower categories of the Rojiblanco club, including Almeria B, who compete in the fourth tier of Spanish football (Tercera Division) resumed their training towards the start of the 2020/21 season. The senior squad’s tournament will kick off on 18th October whereas it is likely that the rest of the groups’ competitions will do so on 25th October.

The Almería B team returned to activity at the end of August. Beyond the working sessions conducted at the Vega de Acá training ground, Fernando Santos' squad played three friendly matches that resulted in a draw - against CD El Ejido (0-0) -, a victory - over Huércal-Overa (1-4) - and last Saturday’s defeat at Águilas Sports Centre (2-0).

It was last week when the seven remaining teams of youngsters began their preparations at Ciudad Deportiva Los Angeles Sports Complex, which will once again be the stage of the UD Almeria Academy ranks’ footie practice and games. On this subject, the first ones to get back on the pitch were the Almeria U-19s teams. It is worth highlighting that, despite the fact that the Division de Honor league was meant to start on 18th October, the boys led by Miguel Compán have their competitive game against Maracena scheduled for 25th October. Almeria U-19s ‘B’ do not have yet have a calendar, although the same date is expected.

From Tuesday, when Almeria U-19s started training, through to Friday, the remaining teams were gradually getting back in action. Almeria U-16s ‘A’ and ‘B’ did so on Wednesday; while Almeria U-14s ‘A’ and ‘B’ and Almeria U-12s would do it on the sixth day of the week. All of them will continue the pre-season waiting for their fixture lists.
