‘All of us deeply appreciate the UD Almería’s charitable donation’

Dr. Manuel Vida, Managing Director of Torrecárdenas University Hospital, spoke to the Rojiblanco club’s official media to give a detailed assessment of the medical aid that the club has donated to the healthcare sector so as to contribute to the fight against coronavirus. On this subject, he did not hesitate to state that ‘All of us deeply appreciate the charitable donation made by UD Almeria.’ 

Dr. Manuel Vida explained how they first stablished contact ‘it was the Mayor of Almería, Ramón Fernández Pacheco, who informed the Almeria delegate of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Juan de la Cruz Belmonte, on the donation made by the club. The Almeria City Council and the hospitals were offered donations consisting of individual protective materials and medical equipment due to the global health emergency caused by Covid-19.’ 

The cardiologist and managing director pointed out that ‘the Almeria delegation requires us to acquire the most useful medical equipment to handle the pandemic in the best possible way. Once we had defined the needs, we provided UD Almería through the Almería City Council with a list of potential supplier contacts, some budgets and what is more…delivery times.’ 

On the same subject, Dr. Manuel Vida said that ‘we have considered the current endowment level of the city and the centralised acquisition documents that are being well managed by the Ministry of Health and the Andalusian Health Service. That is the reason why certain medical equipment has been prioritised.’ 

The managing director of Torrecárdenas University Hospital stated that the president and owner of UD Almería, Turki Al-Sheikh, and the club itself deserve high praise: ‘the delegate of Health and Family and Welfare, Juan de la Cruz Belmonte, the hospital Board of Directors, the professionals, the patients and I greatly appreciate this charitable donation on the part of UD Almería and its commitment to the Almeria society at this difficult time.’
