Alberto Lasarte: 'We have to settle in the new tier and enjoy the competition'
The UD Almería 'B' gaffer talks about the difficulties that the recently-promoted 'B' team will encounter in the Segunda RFEF, but he trusts 'not to be in trouble' despite the fact that there are powerful rivals
'Our objective in the new season has to be to settle in the new tier in which we're going to debut, enjoy it and for the players to continue learning and growing as footballers,' stated UD Almería 'B' head coach Alberto Lasarte. The 'B' team gaffer, who will continue to lead the UD Almería second team, is preparing to complete his seventh season in the Club, second consecutive in the driving seat of UD Almería 'B' with whom he earned promotion a month ago. With hardly any holidays, Mr Lasarte is now preparing the next season with those responsible for the Academy squad, based on that of the previous year, as well as the start of the pre-season, which takes place in about 5 weeks.
'With the burning enthusiasm that we all have, work becomes more pleasant,' he said. The Jaén native valued that 'we have a competitive group, who remain in the squad from last season and good proof of its high level is that the first team has welcomed several of the players in training. Youngsters Bruno Iribarne, Marcos Peña, René and Valen have joined up with the first team in the pre-season training camp in Marbella, without forgetting that in the previous season, several footballers made their Primera debut.
Alberto Lasarte did not hesitate to emphasise that 'the youth team has taken a huge leap and we all want to face the new competition with extraordinary enthusiasm, which is going to be quite a challenge.'
When talking about the group, he explained: 'There are 'B' teams such as Cádiz CF Mirandilla or Club Recreativo Granada and other clubs with history and great aspirations such as Linares, La Balona, UCAM Murcia, Águilas FC… We hope not to struggle despite the fact that five of them have just been relegated. To do this, we'll have to do things very well and we're working to make that happen.'
