Salmerón: 'Attitude, hard work and intensity to win in Melilla'

The UD Almería 'B' head coach labels the clash 'a final' and calls for 'total unity' in the last 6 games of the season

UD Almería 'B' face the first Matchday in which their relegation could become mathematically confirmed, and head coach José María Salmerón addressed the situation on UDA Radio: 'We must go out there without thinking about what might happen and face it without fear. We want to compete and regardless of the result, come away satisfied with our performance. Hopefully, we can get the win.'

With 6 match weeks remaining in Group IV of the fourth-tier Segunda RFEF, the gaffer delivered a clear message: 'We have to stick together in these 6 matches and approach them with professionalism and attitude.'

Me Salmerón also referred to the aftermath of the previous Matchday: 'Attitude and the desire to compete are non-negotiable regardless of our position in the table. This week we’ve worked as usual and when analysing that game, the players agreed that against Xerez CD we lacked intensity. We all agree that won’t happen again.'

At the same time, the UD Almería 'B' gaffet added: 'False things have been published somewhere, probably due to someone’s interest, because the exact opposite has happened. We’ve been honest with each other and whatever happens, we’ll give it our all in every match.'

Regarding their opponents UD Melilla, the Almería-born head coach said: 'We’re going to a great ground where they’re fighting to avoid relegation, so their commitment will be huge. We see it as a final and even though we have absentees, it’s an opportunity for those who haven’t played as much.' He also highlighted the opposition’s 'individual quality and the budget with which the squad was built to fight for promotion.'

Finally, Mr Salmerón underlined the key to bagging all 3 points: 'Attitude, hard work and intensity.'
