A victory over Huetor Vega would ensure promotion phase place for Almeria ‘B’

Three points are needed to seal passage even though there will be one more game to be played

The UD Almería ‘B’ team visit Huétor Vega on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. (Spain Time) with the possibility of sealing passage to the second phase of the season, which is equivalent to the first route of promotion to the Segunda Division RFEF. The homegrown players need three more points to meet their first objective.

After sharing the spoils with Real Jaén last week at the Anexo Juegos Mediterraneos, the Rojiblancos have been training during the week on the Vega de Acá pitch, on the basis that there are two more league commitments left before reaching the promotion mini-league. The Academy hopefuls are keenly aware that each point is vital to increase the numbers and thus, have options to move into the higher league.

Almería ‘B’ will have to take on relegation-threatened opponents who are struggling to avoid the drop, however, the youngsters do not take anything for granted since the have already experienced that this is an intensely competitive tournament with some unexpected results.

Fernando Santos ‘Nandinho’ will not announce the squad list in advance. The coach will not be able to count on Javi Robles, who must serve a one-game suspension for yellow cards accumulation. Largie Ramazani will also be out of action as the left-winger is away on international duty with Belgium U21s.

Almeria Under-19s ‘A’

On the other hand, the UD Almería youth team ‘A’ will play the last match of the first phase. The teenagers are playing with the aim of becoming one of the sides that fight for the title in the second phase and avoiding the relegation mini-league to lower league Liga Nacional. It is a curious paradox because the Rojiblancos host Vázquez Cultural —the first team that seek to continue competing in the league—who have one point less than fifth-placed Almeria in the VIP zone.

This tough assignment takes place on Sunday at the Anexo Juegos Mediterraneos ground (12 p.m. Spain Time). Given that the match will be held behind closed doors due to the measures to stop the spread of Covid-19 within sports facilities, it will be broadcast via streaming through the Academy's Twitter profile (@AcademiaUDA).
