UD Almería shifts focus to AD Ceuta FC away game
The newly-promoted team has been the surprise package of this 2025/26 season and has turned their stadium into a fortress
UD Almería have resumed training after 3 days of rest following the action-packed previous week in which they had both league and Spanish Cup action. The match on the horizon is the Matchday 13 fixture of the regular season, which will pit the Rojiblancos against newly-promoted side AD Ceuta FC at the Alfonso Murube Stadium in the autonomous city located in North Africa.
The Rojiblancos will defend their automatic promotion spot to the top flight, which was secured last weekend. The squad is working towards this goal and has 4 more behind-closed-door sessions ahead. This Thursday, they will train both in the morning and afternoon, and then continue their preparations on Friday and Saturday before travelling to Ceuta via Tetouan (Morocco).
After 24 years, UD Almería return to a remodelled Alfonso Murube Stadium, and as before, with both clubs in former third-tier Segunda 'B', they know that a truly complicated and demanding match awaits them.
AD Ceuta FC, who have returned to professional football after 45 years, are one of the surprise packages of the 2025/26 season and have turned their home ground into a fortress. They lost their opening match, paying the price for their inexperience, but since then, they have won every home game, conceding just 2 goals.
On the last Matchday (12), they were defeated by Córdoba CF (2-0), although prior to that, they had gone 8 consecutive matches unbeaten, keeping a clean sheet in the last 6. With this impressive record, UD Almería faces a serious obstacle to overcome on Sunday if they are to maintain their momentum and consolidate their position among the league's elite.
Head coach Rubi, as he already mentioned in the post-Eibar press conference, hopes to have his injured players available. With Chumi ruled out, Léo Baptistão and Baba have been training on the pitch, albeit separately from their team-mates, while André Horta did not train.
