It was Matchday 4 and a 4th defeat for UD Almería Women, who are still without a point since returning to the division and have dropped into the relegation places. There is, however, still a long way to go and plenty of time for the team to turn things around.

The Rojiblancas travelled to face CFF Cáceres Atlético Women, who began the day at the bottom of the table, although their position was somewhat misleading. The Extremadura-based side have experience and plenty of quality at this level and had already faced teams at the top end of the standings.

The long journey may have taken its toll on the UDA girls, who found themselves behind after just 4 minutes and conceded a second goal in the 11th minute. Things continued to go against the visitors as the hosts added a third, before the guests were reduced to ten players following África's dismissal.

As a result, the Rojiblancas went into the break 3-0 down and with a numerical disadvantage.

Despite the difficult circumstances, Almería refused to give up. The team possesses considerably more quality and football than their results at the start of the season suggest and they showed plenty of character and pride. If they were going to go down, they were determined to do so fighting.

Changes at the start of the second half gave the girls a renewed impetus and despite the adversity, they produced an impressive reaction. Paqui Campoy scored twice, in the 50th and 67th minutes, bringing the score back to 3-2.

With plenty of time still remaining, UD Almería Women had given themselves a chance. However, the demanding circumstances and the effort required to mount the comeback eventually took their toll and the home team scored again to make it 4-2 and seal the victory.
