4-0: UD Almería lose to in-form Athletic Club de Bilbao at San Mamés

The UD Almeria first-team had no option to find the net in Bilbao and in the 16th minute, they were trailing 2-0.

UD Almería lost to in-form hosts Athletic Club de Bilbao. Two first half goals and another two in the second period left UD Almería without winning options against in-form, supported by their fans, side who dominated the 90 minutes and left the Rojiblancos without any reward.

Rubi's men set up chances, but without any success unluckily. The head coach chose the same 5-3-2 formation, but bringing in Kayak instead of Chumi who had muscle discomfort and Mendes instead of Pozo, also injured. With respect to the previous match...Portillo started to team up with Samú and Robertson. Up front, Lázaro and Ramazani tried to fashion chances.

The opening 45 minutes played by UD Almería were amazing. Samú Costa could have made it 1-0 with a well-taken shot from outside the area, but Unai Simón was attentive to block it. Athletic also had many opportunities and would quickly begin to make the most of them. In the 10th minute, the first goal would come; a cross by Nico Williams that his brother, Iñaki, finished off with a header. This goal would give wings to the Basque-based outfit that would fire the second; next, Óscar Sancet beat goalie Fernando inside the area. It was the hosts who dominated the match indeed

The Almerienses managed to get closer to the home team's goal with Embarba's chances after a great solo link-up action by Sousa and Kayky who were about to make it 3-1 after a thumping header, although he would leave close to Unai Simón's post.

With 80 minutes on the clock, the fourth goal courtesy of the home team arrived, it would be scored after a very dubious penalty by Mikel Vesga. This triggered to the end of the match with that 4-0 score and leaving a lot of work ahead of Rubi's men. Now it's time to forget about this daunting away game, correct the mistakes and think about Rayo Madrid-based Vallecano to make up for it and bounce back.
