360 minutes without conceding a goal this season

The security and strength in defence is at the same level as the attacking potential of UD Almeria

Outstanding LaLiga SmartBank leaders UD Almería are producing some really impressive results in the championship. The Rojiblancos are the team that has scored the most triumphs, the highest scoring team and on top of that, the ones who have conceded the fewest goals… The Indalicos have almost always stood out for their great offensive power, but their defence is undeniably at the same level. It has been 4 consecutive Matchdays in which UD Almeria have kept a clean sheet or what is the same...360 minutes without conceding a single goal.

The thing is that Rubi’s side had already shown their strengths during the pre-season, although there were some doubts about it that later not only were dispelled, but also demonstrated that UD Almeria are in form with everybody contributing to their defensive work.

UD Almería conceded their last goal against CD Mirandés on Matchday 12. It was a penalty in a match in which the Rojiblancos won 1-4. Since then, they kept a clean sheet versus CD Leganés and also Burgos CF at home and away against Sporting de Gijón and UD Ibiza.

The team’s defensive effectiveness is not only down to the skillful central defenders and full-backs and not even down to goalkeeper Fernando with his great saves. The contribution of the midfielders is rather significant, especially César de la Hoz and Samú Costa but also the forwards. Meanwhile, Sadiq and Dyego Sousa have made brilliant plays in the last games.
