3–2: Third on the spin: just another day at the office
Goals galore, a debut strike for Miguel de la Fuente and a crucial Andrés Fernández penalty save seal another dramatic victory against FC Andorra
UD Almería made it 3 wins in a row after navigating another dramatic night at the UDA Stadium, overcoming a polished FC Andorra side in a 5-goal thriller that had everything, momentum swings, a debut strike and a decisive penalty save.
Head coach Rubi shuffled his midfield from the previous outing, introducing Dzódic and Guedes, but the script at kick-off felt familiar. The hosts flew out of the blocks and within a couple of minutes had carved open 2 crystal-clear chances. Miguel de la Fuente raced through one-on-one only to be denied by Yaakobishvili, and moments later Embarba found himself in a near-identical position but dragged his effort wide.
The breakthrough arrived early and in trademark fashion. Sergio Arribas produced a finish of the highest class, a clever feint with his left followed by a delicate right-footed strike that oozed composure. 14 goals now for the season, and the Rojiblancos were ahead inside 8 minutes (1-0).
But the visitors responded. Carrique’s skidding effort forced Andrés Fernández into a sharp save and Justin soon tested him again from distance. The warning signs were there. FC Andorra’s neat, possession-based approach began to dictate the rhythm and despite leading, UD Almería found themselves increasingly pinned back.
The equaliser came with cruel misfortune. Justin’s off-target drive deflected off Bonini and into his own net. Level at the break, doubts crept in around the ground (1-1).
Rubi reacted decisively at half-time, introducing Chirino, Baba and Baptistão. Yet it was Piqué's team who struck next. Yeray Cabanzón rattled the post from range and the rebound fell kindly for Villahermosa to convert, completing the turnaround and raising the tension levels inside the stadium (1-2).
The response, however, was immediate. On 58 minutes Miguel de la Fuente bulldozed his way into the scoresheet. A long ball from Bonini looked comfortably covered, but the striker’s sheer strength and determination carried him through to force the ball home. His first goal kitted in red and white and one that felt significant.
The defining moment came with 15 minutes remaining. FC Andorra were awarded a penalty, Lautaro de León stepping up with the chance to swing the match again. Andrés Fernández had other ideas. Diving brilliantly to his right, he produced a superb save that proved a genuine turning point.
From there, belief surged. Arribas and Puigmal combined with imagination and precision before teeing up Léo Baptistão, who applied a clinical finish to make it 3–2. The Brazilian once again delivered when it mattered most.
There were still nervy minutes to negotiate, but this time the confident Indálicos saw it out with maturity.
3 victories on the spin, 5 goals on the night, a penalty hero and a debut scorer. For a side growing in confidence and character, it is starting to feel, chaos and all m, like just another day at the office.
