3-2: Almeria ‘B’ fell to Atletico Poercuna despite fine comeback attempt

The young Rojiblancos managed to come back from behind with a double from Gilbert, but lost due to a defence error

Almería ‘B’ experienced a narrow defeat against Atlético Porcuna. It was an error committed in the defensive area that was the main enemy of the UDA Academy team, which was 2-0 against before the break and after returning from the dressing room. It was then when Gilbert appeared to give hope and equalise with a superb brace. However, the young Indalicos failed at the last minute in their attempt to come back from behind, they did not know how to block the last chance at the hands of the rivals and the hosts took advantage of it to make the final 3-2.

The youth squad from down south had difficulties to create dangerous chances during the first period. So much so that the minutes went by without Óscar Fernández's boys- who had already suffered some trouble in which Cuenca had to avert danger- firing warning clear shots apart from a strike from long range from Raúl Caballero whose attempt went high over the crossbar. In general, a clash was seen in which both contenders tried to take over the ball. The hosts gained momentum  making it 1-0 at the break.

Almería ‘B’ went to half time without knowing that the feelings after the restart would be worse as the hosts doubled their lead (2-0). Four minutes later there was a new threat coming from the right wing from which the ball was crossed into the area and Víctor Vázquez finished off perfectly to beat Fuoli.

However, despite the fact that with the second goal it might seem that Atlético Porcuna were going to extend their lead, the reality was that this circumstance woke the Indálicos team up. As a result, Fermin bounced a free-kick from a wide position and Gilbert showed himself confident enough to pull one back (2-1). After that, Raúl Caballero struck and squandered his good chance after 71 minutes. The visitors merited the tie and talented Gilbert levelled things up (2-2). It has been 12 goals that the attacker has scored this season breaking records in his footballing career.

Next, subbed Lokosa entered the field trying his best to break the deadlock. Then, Sala, who had also came on along with Abel, finished off a well-taken corner-kick over the crossbar on 90 minutes. Injury time arrived and with it a great enemy of Almería ‘B’ returned during the contest: the mistakes in their defensive third. The young squad did not know how to change the score after the two previous failures in the attempt to turn the result around and ended up paying dearly for it when unmarked Luisito did the right thing to leave the points at home (3-1). It was the 91st minute and there would be no time for more.
