3-1: Epic win for the UD Almeria, who never give up

The rojiblancos were numerically inferior from 19 minute. Spectacular comeback to produce a historical record.

UD Almería added their third consecutive victory in an epic match in which it had to overcome many setbacks. In the 19 minute with a goal against, the UD Almeria were seen in numerical inferiority because César de la Hoz was sent off. It was not until the second half when the ‘Almería never gives up’ motto made it 3-1, meaning that the team secure their second place in the table by hitting 35 points.

José María Gutiérrez, with all the staff available except Juan Ibiza, returned to the approach of the match against Numancia and placed César de la Hoz as a centre-back, although this time he would be accompanied by Maras. As for the rest of the players, they all played in the same positions of the last game at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium.

It was not a comfortable first half for our team. As expected, the CD Mirandés started the game intensively and opened the scoring. It was in 10 minute when Marcos André got away and made it 0-1 giving his side the lead.

The UD Almeria had to look for the comeback. However, the situation got complicated because César de la Hoz was sent off. In the 19 minute, the VAR claimed the attention of the referee to interpret that a foul committed by the player in the defensive third could be considered as a red card. The referee sent him off, after seeing it on the monitor.

Out of the blue, everything changed. UD Almeria showed their true colours. It only took thirty seconds to Jonathan Silva to cross the ball to the centre circle and Juan Muñoz to put the team up 1-1. UD Almeria made sure nobody noticed that the team was shorthanded. That was how, in the 48 minute, Almeria worked their socks off and thanks to a spectacular play from Jonathan Silva, Lazo and Balliu ended up with a goal of Darwin Núñez (2-1). Then, in the 70 minute, with a brilliant Almeria in the ground, Lazo scored the third winning goal.

The rojiblancos were the stars of the game until the final whistle confirmed the 35 points achievement, which proves the best UD Almeria team ever in their history considering the last 19 matchdays.
