3-0: Resounding triumph to almost secure top-tier status

UD Almería put in a commanding display against RCD Mallorca. Lázaro Vinicius became the centre figure as he grabbed the perfect hat trick to wow the fans at the Power Horse Stadium

UD Almería seized the great opportunity to take a huge step forward towards LaLiga Santander survival as RCD Mallorca slumped to 3-0 defeat at the Power Horse Stadium. The Rojiblancos have collected 39 points so far after adding these three massive points, which may be enough to save the canmpaign. Lázaro Vinicius became a central figure as he grabbed the perfect hat trick to seal a vital victory.

Rubi made two changes to the starting XI that took on CA Osasuna last Saturday. Samú Costa replaced César de la Hoz in the midfield, and Lázaro took Léo Baptistão’s spot, who was ruled out for the match due to an ankle injury. 12,800 jubilant fans gathered in the stands and moments before the kick-off chanted ‘Sí se puede’ (yes, we can).

UD Almería knew how to hurt the RCD Mallorca defence and created threatening situations from the get go, but it took several scares with the quick moves of Kang In Lee. This happened when both teams were back and forth up the pitch due to either turnovers or unfinished plays. However, the Rojiblancos pulled their socks up defensively since RCD Mallorca did not come, far from it, to walk around. With 12 minutes on the clock, Lázaro Vinicius got his side off to a flying start as the Brazilian took advantage of a rebound inside the box to beat Rajkovic (1-0).

UD Almería took the initiative, they played with intensity and vertical football, and as time began to wind down, they kept the Bermellones at bay. In the 41st minute, the opener scorer doubled the Indálicos lead thanks to an unstoppable thunderbolt from the edge of the area (2-0).

The Rojiblancos wanted more, much more after the restart. They bossed the game thoroughly and demonstrated their exceptional ability to steal the ball from the opponents and showed astonishing speed in attack. Lázaro booted emphatically but his effort went high on 47 minutes. However, a quick transition by striker Luis Suárez down the right wing found the left-winger, who was on song and thumped home a clinical inside 58 minutes. It is not everyday that you score a hat trick that sealed a resounding triumph (3-0). A convincing attacking display, a superb hat trick and on top of that, a clean sheet. Job done!
