2-2: UD Almeria Women & Sevilla FC Women ‘B’ take a point apiece from their meeting

The Rojiblancas fail to maintain the opening 45 minutes superiority in the second half

UD Almería Women and Sevilla FC Women ‘B’ took a point apiece after their meeting, but the result was kind of unfair following the Rojiblancas’ brilliant performance. Almeria Women looked to dominate an early possession during the first half, managing to stage a comeback courtesy of goals from Fátima and Nadia. It was in the second half when the hosts had no choice but to settle for a draw (2-2).

It was not the best start to the game. Despite the fact that Álvaro García Búrdalo opted for an offensive starting XI, the visiting team went ahead on minute 3 with an action by Lidia taking advantage of a Rojiblancas defence error.

The girls from Almeria did not stop creating chances and continued to attack until, with 32 minutes gone, Fatima regained possession with high pressure finding the equaliser. Before making it 1-1, Nadia had already created danger following a cross from a wide position grazing the post.

Almería Women deserved to turn around the game, yet it was not until the 38th minute when this actually happened. Nadia sent the ball inside the box and made it 2-1 just before the interval. María López, with a powerful strike from long range drew level (2-2).

The score did not change and UD Almería Women had to settle for a point apiece despite creating many goalscoring opportunities at the Constantino Cortés pitch.
