2-2: UD Almeria fought back from 2-0 down at full strength

Juan Muñoz scored after 77 minutes and Sekou tied on 92 minutes. The rojiblancos sit second in the table.

Once again, UD Almeria demonstrated their faith and grip on the pitch to draw a match that was really complicated with plenty of duels and Fuenlabrada winning 2-0. At the time, the changes gave UD Almeria what the clash needed, two goals scored by Juan Muñoz and Sekou making it 2-2.

José María Gutiérrez surprised everyone again with the choice of a 5-technique defensive tackle, as he did in the second half of last weekend’s game; Corpas as a right-back, Romera as centre-back with Ozornwafor and Owona, while Ivan Martos was left-back.

With that situation, the rojiblanco team had to face numerous duels. In the first minutes of the game, Fuenlabrada dominated the encounter. Of course, UD Almeria did not take too long to get back in possession. Although there were few scoring opportunities, UD Almeria created more chances.

After the half-time break, the UD Almeria started the second half controlling the ball like they were doing in the last minutes of the first half. However, their opponents knew how to do things right and managed to score two goals.

It took until the 60th minute for some goalmouth action. A corner kick ended with a finish from Glauder making it 1-0. Although the Almeria’s players claimed a possible foul on Iván Martos, the score went up.

José María Gutiérrez did not settle for a loss and decided to make some changes. It was time to give Aguza and Sekou an opportunity and leaving Darwin Núñez and Ozornwafor on the bench. The intention was to initiate a different way of attacking, considering the adversary’s offensive attack strategy. However, the game soon became more complicated when, in the 69th minute, Ibán Salvador took advantage of a wrong rojiblanco clearance to put the 2-0.

Not happy with the result at that moment, the manager decided to bring Coric on to have more possession. It was then when the match was mostly played in the scoring area of the UD Almeria. After 77 minutes, a stunning team’s play ended up with Juan Muñoz making it 2-1, and in the stoppage time (minute 92), Sekou scored an equaliser (2-2). UD Almeria sit second in the table.
