2-2: UD Almería U19s 'A' miss Copa del Rey qualification

A hard-fought draw against Arenas de Armilla ends hopes for the young Rojiblancos

UD Almería U19s 'A' were eliminated from Copa del Rey U19 qualification after a 2-2 draw with Arenas de Armilla on Matchday 17 of the División de Honor league. The result, coupled with unfavorable outcomes in other matches, saw the Rojiblancos fall short of a top-five finish in their group and miss out on a spot in the prestigious competition.

The match, played at the conclusion of the first half of the season, was a must-win for the lads. The young Indálicos needed all 3 points to remain in contention for the Copa del Rey spots and also relied on favorable results in other matches. However, a disappointing draw against the relegation-threatened Arenas de Armilla left them in 8th place, ending their Copa aspirations.

The result marked the third consecutive match in which UD Almería U19s 'A' failed to secure a win against lower-ranked opponents, including teams in the relegation zone. After a strong start to the season, the young Rojiblancos faltered in the final stretch of 2025, with a draw and a loss that severely hindered their qualification hopes.

Ultimately, the 2-2 draw against Arenas de Armilla in early 2026 confirmed their failure to qualify for the Copa del Rey, and they now turn their attention to the second half of the league season with their hopes of silverware dashed.
