2-1: UD Almería B lose out to CF Motril and play-offs hopes begin to weaken
The UDA Academy prospects spurned numerous chances created throughout the game and ended up defeated in injury time
UD Almería ‘B’s play-offs hopes begin to weaken after succumbing to a 2-1 defeat to CF Motril with a stoppage-time winning goal scored by the team from Granada. The Rojiblancos managed to peg the hosts back by cancelling out their opening goal in the 60th minute, but unfortunately conceded a new goal from the Motrileños on 90’+2.
Two evenly-matched youth sides were on it from the first minute, yet it was CF Motril who put themselves in front in the 25th minute through Darío de la Hoz’s great opener. UD Almeria ‘B’ tried their hardest to equalise by engineering good chances, but lacking pinpoint precision..
The visitors dug in even more over the second half and in the end, they cranked up the pressure to hit the target. It was a well-deserved goal courtesy of Gilbert inside 60 minutes. From then on, the youthful Indálicos fashioned many chances to win, but they lacked creativity in the final third. Opponent Iker Burgos slotted home the match-winning goal on 90’+2.
With this bitter defeat, and two Matchdays remaining before the end of the regular season, entering the promotion play-offs is surely going to be an uphill battle for UD Almeria ‘B’.
