2-1: UD Almería B get off the mark this season in home debut
The Rojiblancos edged out rivals Polideportivo Almería. They reigned superior in the first half, while both sides exchanged chances in the second
UD Almería 'B' got off the mark this season as they achieved the first victory in their home debut. The youthful Rojiblancos beat their Almería rivals in a match in which the hosts reigned superior in the opening half and then, in the second, chances by both sides followed one another. UD Almería 'B' took the lead early, in the 8th minute, through Lara, who over the same goal line chested the ball into the back of the net after a well-delivered cross by Rachad from the left.
The Academy hopefuls were clear dominators of this first half, since they took the initiative at all times. The lads controlled the situation, although they did not create many threatening situations because Poli Almería defended well. UD Almería 'B' fashioned some chances to have extended their lead, especially in the final stretch of this period in two actions by Rachad that narrowly missed out. The break was reached at 1-0.
Six minutes after the restart, Poli Almería levelled it up; Moussa headed in a corner to bring the scores level (1-1). This circumstance motivated much more the visitors, who began to have the ball and take the initiative, and although they looked worried, they did not create danger. The arch-rivals were well organised and the 'B' team did not feel comfortable.
The ball pinged from one side to the other but UD Almería 'B' were more decisive, with a well-timed and quality play that triggered the 2-1 that sealed their victory. Hugo Neves starred in a brilliant play on the left wing, he assisted team-mate Aarón, who with a low and shot taken from a wide position beat keeper Manu.
