2-1: CD Alhaurino deliver comeback against Almeria ‘B’

The UDA Academy players went ahead with an opener from Lokosa, but suffered from 7 minutes with plenty of hosts’ effectiveness

UD Almería ‘B’ made their journey back home empty-handed and defeated by CD Alhaurino after a game with plenty of end-to-end activity. The youth squad took the lead courtesy of Lokosa’s opener. It was then when the hosts played for 7 minutes (71’-78’) with absolute effectiveness until they ended up delivering a comeback towards the final 2-1. The UDA Academy outfit, with a game in hand, are now out of the play-offs zone 13 points away from automatic promotion.

The main changes to head coach Óscar Fernández's starting XI with respect to the previous league appointment were the starting positions of Andrei, who replaced Sylla, and Gilbert, who took Hugo Neves’ place. The strong wind was the highlight of the away game played in Alhaurín el Grande as both teams were forced to adapt at a fast pace due to the adverse weather in order to create big chances.

In general, Almería ‘B’ dominated possession, however, despite the fact that there were some meritorious opportunities from the youth squad, the clearest chances in the opening 45 minutes were created by the confident hosts, since 18 minutes in, the post prevented the scoreboard from recording the first goal of the encounter, while after half an hour, Diego Fuoli dived spectacularly to block Manu’s shot from the edge of the box.

The second half saw both outfits going all out for an opener. The Academy prospects went ahead courtesy of Lokosa, who received a well-timed assist from peer Carlos Rojas to find the back of the net. That was the best moment for the visitors. In fact, the young Rojiblancos were close to doubling their lead through a shot by Gilbert.

With that goal proving the difference between the sides (0-1), CD Alhaurino took a risk that ended up going well. The home team lads, cheered on by their fans, went on the attack, managed to turn the game around when first, opponent Pintos drew level after finishing off a cross from a wide position and second, Ibu broke the deadlock after playing it in off keeper Fuoli.

Almería ‘B’ really wanted to level things up at the very least. Before the 2-1, Óscar Fernández refreshed the offensive line with the additions of Caballero and Marciano. Subsequently, a triple change was made through which Hugo Neves, Jean Marco and Avelino entered the field of play. Sadly, there was no time for more, so the youthful Indalicos’ defeat was confirmed.
