2-1: Almeria ‘B’ complicate promotion aspirations and will be in control of own destiny on the last first phase game

The homegrown players fell 2-1 to Huétor Vega in a match marked by the sending-off of Vertiz within 56 minutes.

The UD Almería ‘B’ team continue to complicate their aspirations for promotion to the Segunda Division RFEF after losing on their trip to Huétor Vega (2-1) in a match that was highly marked by the dismissal of Vertiz in the 56th minute. The Rojiblancos took the lead through Jordi Escobar, but the home team managed to turn the game around, slamming in the second in the 92nd minute. As a result, the youth players will have to fight on the last matchday to get a place in the mini-league to promote to a higher league.

CD Huétor Vega had two very clear goal-scoring opportunities shortly after the beginning. Between the 12th and 21st minute Caballero nearly found the back of the net. The Granada-born keeper soon after denied Manu after a corner-kick. The league meeting progressed and  UD Almería ‘B’ wanted some more. After 26 minutes, Dani Albiar displayed a really outstanding action in which he shot and the ball grazed the post. Of course, on the brink of half-time, the hero for the youth squad was Curro Harillo, who saved a penalty against.

In the second half there was a controversial play, which ended up deciding the game. With 56 minutes on the clock, the ref showed the second yellow card to Vertiz, so the ‘B’ team  had to endure quite a few minutes down to 10 men on the pitch. Far from squatting down, the homegrown players, aware that three points could secure a place for them to the promotion mini-league, went on the attack and managed to get ahead. It was the 76th minute when Cristian Olivera assisted Jordi Escobar to make it 0-1.

Their joy did not last long for Almeria, since as soon as they could, the hosts found the equaliser (1-1). At that time, the Rojiblancos were beginning to accuse the fact of being 10 players in action, causing that, without completely renouncing the attack, they had to organise their lines.

It seemed that Almería ‘B’ were going to get just a point, but, in the 92nd minute, CD Huétor Vega made the final 2-1 that complicates their aspirations of promotion leaving their chances to the second round for the last Matchday, in which our contenders host Torreperogil at the Anexo Juegos Mediterraneos. In this sense, it is worth highlighting that the average of points achieved is very important in the development of the promotion to the Segunda Division RFEF.
