2-0: Defeat in Granada and schedule leave UD Almería Women without a chance
The UDA girls have a very difficult time reaching the promotion play-off spots with 4 matches remaining until the league final. The next match is on 20th April
UD Almería Women have practically lost their chance of entering the play-offs for promotion to the Segunda RFEF after their 2-0 defeat to Granada CF 'B' Women and the schedule ahead, with few points left to play for and an easy path for their closest rivals Sevilla FC 'B' Women.
The situation is as follows with 4 matches remaining in the regular season in Group 5 of the Tercera RFEF. Sport Extremadura have a tough time in the top division; Granada and Betis are fighting for the second automatic promotion spot and the third-placed finisher will enter the play-offs. The fourth-place finisher would have a chance, but to do so, they must be one of the top-two in the 6 groups in the division. On top of that, Sevilla's fourth place is 8 points behind the Indálicas. It is all immensely complicated.
The possibility of missing out on promotion should in no way tarnish the brilliant season for UD Almeria Women, who have competed against 'B' teams of major clubs such as Granada CF, Betis, and Sevilla FC. All of them play in the top flight of Spanish women's football. In these past match weeks in Granada, UD Almería Women put up a fight, but Granada CF Women asserted their superior power with two goals in each half, helping them seal the tie and move very close to automatic promotion.
Now, the Rojiblancas will not compete again until 20th April, when they play in Plasencia. There is no La Liga match next week, and in the following week, UD Almería Women will earn 3 points without playing, as they would have to play against Ciudad Alcalá CF, who withdrew from the competition.
