2-0: Almeria ‘B’ restore good vibes!

The UDA Academy youngsters put in a committed display that inspired them to clinch victory over visitors Alhaurín de la Torre

The UD Almería ‘B’ team restored the good vibes as they ended up beating Alhaurín de la Torre on Sunday. The UDA Academy players put in a committed display not feeling danger at any time. Goals courtesy of Hugo Neves and David Cuenca sealed an all-important victory that fired the youth team to the play-off spots.

Alex Mendes returned to the starting XI becoming the latest addition to the squad . He shone out along with team-mates Fuoli, Aitor Puñal, Cuenca, Fermín, Sylla, Kevin, Rojas, Hugo Neves, Caballero and Marciano

Several clear-cut chances created by the hosts followed one another until, in the 28th minute, Hugo Neves put his side in front (1-0) after finishing off within the small box a sensational combination on the right wing between debutant Alex Mendes and Kevin Bautista, who assisted the Portuguese attacker with a cross. Almeria ‘B’ could have doubled their lead before half-time, but the Alhaurín de la Torre goalkeeper was phenomenally successful in a one-on-one with Marciano.

After the restart, Gilbert entered the field and the first thing the current Indalico top scorer did was to try to score the second goal in a great solo play after which he teamed up with Rojas, being denied by a defender in charge of getting right in the middle to snuff out the danger.

It would not take long for the scoreboard to record their second on home turf. In fact, a fine effort prior to the second goal was Marciano’s strike, which was blocked by the visiting keeper. With 74 minutes gone, the ball was put behind the net when David Cuenca headed in after a corner-kick.

The Almeria ‘B’ boys did not lose momentum in the final minutes of the game. Moreover, Gilbert had in his boots the option of slotting home the third. However, the woodwork prevented the UDA youth team from extending their victory on a Matchday in which Óscar Fernández's lads got back in the win column and returned to play-off positions.
