First Team
10 Months and 46 matches for final chapter

The Rojiblancos are fine-tuning their game plan to overcome Málaga CF in Saturday’s second leg of the promotion play-off final at the UD Almería Stadium

UD Almería’s first-team squad is already hard at work preparing for Saturday’s decisive second leg against Málaga CF in the promotion play-off final, which kicks off at 9pm at the UD Almería Stadium.

Following the goalless draw in the first leg at La Rosaleda stadium, the tie is slightly in UD Almería’s favour thanks to home advantage, although it remains very much open. Head coach Rubi and his players are taking nothing for granted. Fully aware of the threat posed by their opponents, the Rojiblancos are approaching the week with complete focus and determination as they look to achieve their objective after ten long months of competition. Saturday’s showdown will be the 46th and final match of a campaign that began in mid-August.

The squad held a recovery session on Monday and enjoyed a day off on Tuesday. Training resumed behind closed doors on Wednesday, with further practices scheduled for Thursday and Friday as the team fine-tunes their preparations for the decisive encounter with Málaga CF.

As the gaffer has already made clear, UD Almería will not play for the draw despite knowing that another stalemate would be enough to secure promotion. The Rojiblancos will take to the pitch with one objective in mind: victory.

Excitement is building rapidly ahead of the match and the UD Almería Stadium is expected to be packed to capacity on Saturday night. It is a venue where the Indálicos have been particularly strong throughout the season, finishing as the best home side in the regular LaLiga Hypermotion campaign. They also showed their strength in the semi-finals, drawing away with CD Castellón before sealing qualification with a 3-2 victory at home.
