1-5: Giant step forward taken by Almeria ‘B’ thanks to phenomenal win
The UDA Academy youngsters achieve a resounding victory over Real Jaén, climb into 3rd position and take a four-point lead
UD Almería ‘B’ wrapped up a phenomenal 1-5 win over Real Jaén. The boys from the UDA Academy were superior for almost the full 90 minutes with Núñez, Fermín, Marciano, Avelino and Bian scoring the goals to take a giant step in the table. The Rojiblancos climbed into third position and gained a four-point advantage from outside the play-off zone.
It was a spirited first half following an absolute dominance assumed by the UDA Academy side over the hosts in just over half an hour. Real Jaén went on the attack in the last minutes of the opening forty-five minutes pushing for an opener and undermining the Indálicos’ confidence, who were creating numerous clear-cut chances.
UD Almería ‘B’ piled the pressure on Real Jaen to spoil their build-up play from the back. This approach did not take long to bear fruit, since Núñez beat the goalkeeper by kicking from long range (0-1).
Although after this opener the Jienenses fashioned two chances that Fuoli denied, the Indalicos continued to create danger. With half an hour on the clock, the visitors fed the ball into the box aiming to work their way past Toni, but the feisty goalie blocked an attempt by Rafa Núñez from the edge of the area and then Rojas could not find the back of the net, a footballer who shortly after scuttled into the area and was awarded a penalty that compatriot Fermín converted after 34 minutes (0-2).
The UDA Academy prospects could have stabbed the third home just after, yet the hosts gained momentum to pull one back on 37 minutes (1-2).
UD Almería ‘B’ bossed things in the second period as they were fully determined to take a giant step in the play-off fight. As a result of this great ambition, as soon as the lads returned from the dressing room, Aitor Puñal won the ball back by pressing on the edge of the opponent's 18-yard-box but the goalie knew how to snuff out the danger. However, that was the precedent of the 1-3, since Lokosa dribbled past some opponents on the run, the ball found Marciano and he did not hesitate to drill home.
That was the end of all the offensive contributions of the home team, giving way to a game in which the visitors did not suffer at the back, Avelino slammed in the fourth (1-4) thanks to a chance set up by team-mate Rojas. Next, Bian was the last young Rojiblanco to etch his name on the scoresheet after being in the right place at the right time (1-5).
Long story short, UD Almería ‘B’ wrapped up a phenomenal victory that fired them to third place in the standings and also granted them a four-point lead over the zone out of the play-offs. Next weekend, there will be a clash against visitors CF Motril, who are currently second although both sides are equal on points.
