1-2: Good first pre-season test for UD Almería in Montecastillo training camp

Demanding friendly against resilient Córdoba CF. Curro scored an early opener but the opponents came back from behind twice. This Sunday, second friendly against CD San Fernando (UDA Radio)

UD Almería had a good pre-season test this Saturday against resilient opponents who put in a great display. It was the Rojiblancos' second pre-season game, first one in the Montecastillo training camp against Córdoba CF. Curro made it 1-0 very soon, but the Cordobeses came from behind twice to win. The Almerienses fashioned enough chances to have scored more goals. They showed good skills though.

Head coach Rubi picked out a Starting XI with familiar faces from last season and with the new additions of Mendes, Kayky and Svidersky, who did very well. It was a spirited first half despite the 40 degrees. The Rojiblancos piled the pressure on Córdoba CF's from the off and as a result, it was 1-0 within 3 minutes. Curro picked up Sadiq's brilliant assist straight after Martin Svidersky stole the ball. However, the Cordobeses came back from behind twice.

Córdoba CF, in spite of competing in Primera Division RFEF made things difficult for UD Almería; they have undoubted potential to make it to the Professional Football League. It was a friendly game with plenty of end-to-end activity and clear-cut chances from Sadiq, tackled a few times, and César de la Hoz. It was 1-2 at the break.

In the second half, Rubi kept the same eleven footballers from the first period except for Martin Svidersky who was replaced by Ramazani. In the 60th minute, the remaining 10 substitutions were made to have a different team on the field than the one in the opening 45 minutes. UD Almería took control at all times and engineered the best chances, although they lacked more effectiveness in the final pass, but this has only just begun. Ramazani was about to equalise with a shot that the rival goalkeeper parried away. Later, Samú Costa hit the crossbar from the edge of the area. The final whistle confirmed the 1-2 of a good pre-season test after a journey of over 5 hours from Almería to Jerez in order to get the pre-season training camp started.

This Sunday, another warm-up game will be played against Primera División RFEF side CD San Fernando and it will be aired by UDA Radio online from 7:30pm (Spain Time).
