1-1: The boys from Almeria ‘B’ make the same mistake twice

A defensive error and the lack of precision in their shots prevent the young Rojiblancos from beating Vélez

Almeria ‘B’ made the same mistake again and left the leaders’ ground with the guilty feeling of having dropped two points instead of adding one. The lack of precision in the youngsters’ shots at goal and a defensive error are to blame for the one-all draw.

The second match of the mini-league for promotion to Segunda Division RFEF began fast-paced and with the two sides showing some steel to try to impose their football style. Almería ‘B’ did not take long to gain momentum and after piling the pressure on Velez. Jean Marco slotted Almeria ahead inside 14 minutes thanks to Siles’ lovely assist (0-1).

The Indalicos had before them an Andalusian team that did not give up on any duels given that a triumph would have placed the Veleños closer to the automatic promotion. It was not an easy game for the UD Almeria Academy squad, however they continued to try to turn their chances into goals. Ramazani danced his way through the defence in a couple of one-on-one situations with half an hour gone. The first one skied high over the crossbar, while the second rattled the crossbar. It was just bad luck.

The UD Almeria second-team had missed the golden opportunity of doubling their lead. Shortly after the visitors were denied woodwork, Vélez took advantage of a Rojiblancos’ blunder during a build-up play followed by a few of rebounds… Joselinho’s strike cancelled out the visiting team’s lead (1-1).

The feisty UD Almería contenders got the next 45 minutes dominating the encounter. After a series of goal-scoring opportunities created by both teams, Almería once again squandered another chance in which Robles got his shot deflected into the path of a defender.

The Rojiblancos remained in the shooting third most of this second half. The game and the opportunities would keep coming for the Rojiblancos. For instance, Siles won the ball back in the midfield, controlled heading towards the goal but finished over the crossbar. The keeper from Malaga managed to block Dani Albiar’s attempt at goal. It seemed that there was no way to break the deadlock.

A defensive error and the lack of success when shooting at goal condemned Almeria ‘B’ not to take all three points, despite outplaying Velez at the Vivar Téllez Stadium located in the town of Vélez-Málaga. The Rojiblancos will not have to face any game this weekend as Sunday’s fixture against El Palo was postponed due to some opponents testing positive for Covid-19 within the Paleña squad.
