1-1: Salmerón’s UD Almería 'B' debut ends in draw

The UDA Academy side break their hoodoo as they earn crucial point after 7 back-to-back defeats but late leveller denies victory against Xerez Deportivo FC

José María Salmerón made his debut as UD Almería 'B' head coach, securing a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Xerez Deportivo FC at the Chapín Stadium on Matchday 10. After seven consecutive losses, the young Rojiblancos finally halted their slide with a point, though they remain in a precarious position at the bottom of the table. The result sees them overtaken by Atlético Malagueño, who claimed victory over UCAM Murcia, leaving the safety zone a daunting 9 points away.

Despite the draw, there was a noticeable improvement in the team's performance. The Academy prospects demonstrated a stronger collective effort and a more structured approach compared to previous outings. Defensively solid, they looked set for victory until Xerez's late equaliser.

Iker Burgos put UD Almería 'B' ahead with his third goal of the season in the 12th minute and they nearly doubled their advantage in an exciting opening half. Xerez pressed hard in the second half, and their persistence paid off when Diego Iglesias netted a late equaliser from outside the box in the 78th minute, leaving the score tied at 1-1.
