The Academy prospects were held to a one-all draw by CD Cantoria 2017 FC in a rain-affected derby, with the match delayed by 45 minutes before finally getting under way in difficult conditions
UD Almería 'B' battled to a point in challenging circumstances as they drew 1–1 with CD Cantoria 2017 FC at the Los Olivos pitch.
Heavy rain delayed kick-off by 45 minutes, with the ref eventually giving the go-ahead for the match to be played despite the difficult state of the pitch.
The conditions had a major impact on the game, making it difficult for UD Almería 'B' to play their usual passing football.
Despite that, the visitors made a perfect start. Joan put UD Almería 'B' ahead after just 3 minutes, but the waterlogged surface made it increasingly difficult for the visitors to move the ball and impose their style of play.
The Cantoria boys responded with plenty of energy and physicality, but UD Almería 'B' managed to keep the hosts under control for much of the first half. Pablo Nozal's side weathered the pressure and created opportunities of their own to extend their lead.
The hosts eventually found their equaliser in the 61st minute when David Simón converted from the penalty spot following a controversial decision.
The UD Almería Academy prospects continued to defend their point in difficult conditions but were unable to find a winning goal, with the score remaining level until the final whistle.
The two sides had already met twice during pre-season, with both encounters closely contested. That pattern continued in the league, although the adverse weather conditions made this Matchdays 5 meeting particularly demanding.
