1-1: Almería Women laboured once again to share the spoils
The Rojiblancas equalise in the final stretch against in-form Badajoz, opponents who had won everything so far
Although three points will not add up in the table, the UD Almería women's team achieved one of those draws that feels like a victory, since the Rojiblancas were able to snatch a point against CD Badajoz, who had won everything so far. Time was ticking away whilst Almeria were gaining momentum despite an early goal from Badajoz. Paqui, in the 76th minute, came from behind to take a share of the spoils (1-1) in the debut of Álvaro García Búrdalo as a coach in the driving seat.
Over the course of the encounter, there was clearly a constant improvement over the playing field. Almeria, who walked out on the pitch wearing shirts in support of Mati Vallejo after his long-term injury, had to overcome a hard blow such as Luisa's goal after two minutes.
Badajoz began the game by showing why they are laying down a marker in the tournament to move up to a higher division. However, the girls from Almeria were not willing to give up despite the good start of the visiting side from the region of Extremadura.
After half-time, the Rojiblancas took more and more possession of the attacking game. Thus, after a series of attempts at goal from the girls in red and white striped jerseys, Paqui headed a cross by María Flores on 76 minutes to make it 1-1.
The UD Almería Women's team continued fighting their way until the moment in which the final whistle confirmed the home team’s win and one more point bagged against potential league leaders CD Badajoz, who had won all their games until they visited the Rojiblancas’ land.
