1-1: A huge point for Almería ‘B in outing to Motril
The UDA Academy players play a match against the Granada-based team with plenty of end-to-end activity
The UD Almería ‘B’ team and CF Motril played a game with plenty of end-to-end activity as it was expected and ended up taking home a huge point. The hopeful Rojiblancos went ahead thanks to Gilbert’s opener, a player who is in good form. Shortly after, the Motrileños levelled things up in a contest with the two teams creating chances but 1-1 was the final score.
Right from the start, it could be seen that the two sides faced the clash with the clear intention of winning. By the end of the first quarter of an hour, there had already been clear opportunities, and thus, in the 8th minute, Almería ‘B’ were about to put themselves in front through an individual action by Carlos Rojas, while goalkeeper Diego Fuoli saved a shot in style.
The UDA Academy players were growing into the game gradually. As a result, they managed to take the lead inside 20 minutes when a corner-kick went directly to the position in which Carlos Gilbert was, who did not miss the opportunity to make it 0-1 and continue in the highest position of the goalscorers' table within Group IX of the Tercera Division RFEF.
Óscar Fernández's boys merited more than enough to be ahead. In addition, they could have been able to double their lead, yet Rojas was down on his luck. This hurdle lifted Motril CF spirits and after half an hour, drew level with a goal from Raúl García.
After the scores level at 1-1, the two teams played vertical football as both fashioned chances with the lads from Almeria and Granada showing themselves as organised as possible so as not to concede any more goals. Plays with fast ball transitions were taking place, highlighting an attempt on 87 minutes by the hosts in which the ball hit the crossbar.
Despite the fact that during the development of the highly contested second half, the two went all out for a win, the final score left a share of the points, which according to what was seen on the Escribano Castilla field, seemed fair. With regard to UD Almería ‘B’, they are on a 5-week winless run, although it is true that there is only one away defeat to Atlético Malagueño in that period.
