1-1: 94-minute equaliser salvages a point for Almería Women
The Rojiblancas deserved a better result but had to settle for a draw to extend unbeaten run to 4 match weeks
Despite the goalscoring opportunities seen on the pitch, the Rojiblancas salvaged a point in the stoppage time last minute. Almeria Women played direct rivals Sporting de Huelva ‘B’ and ended up sharing the spoils (1-1). Pilar was in charge of finishing off a corner kick with which Almeria Women extend unbeaten run to four consecutive match weeks.
From the kick-off, the ladies from Almeria were making their presence known in the box. So much so that after ten minutes, two clear chances were created in which Ana Carrascosa, first, and Pilar, later, did not manage to find the back of the net. Carrascosa hit the post on 35 minutes after a cross from the wing, while just before half time, a series of corner kicks would follow one another with the girls peppering the goal.
UD Almería Women deserved to have taken the lead. However, the Sporting de Huelva ‘B’ team used their best weapons in their first shot at goal making it 0-1 on 45 minutes.
The second half was pretty much the same. The Indálicas had more possession to get closer to the opponents’ goal. Agustín Sánchez introduced Paqui, debutant Jessi, Sonia Piña and Mireya to trouble the Huelva defence.
The first thing Jessi Higueras did when wearing the red and white jersey for the first time was to create a big chance inside the box, but the crossbar denied her. Almeria believed and fought back until the end to get their reward in the 94th minute. Pilar finished off a deep corner (1-1). It is true that the hosts deserved a better result. However, the share of the points extends their unbeaten run in the league.
