UD Almería Women have finally secured their first win of the season in Group III of the women's third-tier Segunda RFEF. Despite having shown plenty of promise in previous matches, the girls had to wait until Matchday 8 to claim all 3 points, beating Canary Islands side CD Guiniguada Apolinario.

The victory comes just a week after UD Almería Women earned an away draw against Real Betis Balompié Women, one of the promotion favourites, a result that has given Pedro López's side a welcome confidence boost.

The Rojiblancas will be back at home next weekend when they face another Canary Islands outfit, CF Unión Viera. Their upcoming opponents currently have 7 points, the same tally as Guiniguada and Cáceres Atlético. UD Almería Women sit on 4 points, just within the relegation zone, meaning this first victory could prove crucial in reigniting their fight for survival.

Pedro López's team knew they had a great opportunity and started the game on the front foot, determined to take advantage. Their positive approach paid off early, as Sarai opened the scoring in the 8th minute.

With the entire match still to play, the Indálicas had to manage their advantage carefully. The hosts created several opportunities to extend their lead but were unable to find a second goal, allowing uncertainty to creep into the contest as the visitors also threatened.

However, the Rojiblancas held on until the final whistle to secure a valuable victory on home soil, breathing new life into their bid to preserve their place in the division.
